SP Reviews Budgets of 3 Departments for a Start

Kalibo, Aklan- The Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Aklan, through its Committee on Appropriations, Budget and Finance and Ways and Means has completed Friday the review and evaluation of the proposed budgetary appropriations of three provincial government departments as it starts reviewing the almost-a-billion peso annual budgets of the province for 2011.

Thoroughly scrutinized were the proposed budgets of the Provincial Budget Office under Provincial Budget Officer Mary Grace Macahilas, that of the Provincial Human Resource Management Office under Provincial Human Resource Management Officer Ellen I. Tolentino and that of the Provincial Planning and Development Office under Provincial Planning Development Coordinator, Engr. Roger M. Esto.

On Thursday this week, the Provincial Local Finance Committee chaired by Provincial Treasurer Suzzete F. Pioquid lengthily briefed the SP of the salient features of the proposed 2011 Annual General Fund and EEDD Budgets.

Proposed 2011 budgetary appropriations for the Provincial Budget Officer has a total outlay of P7,988,250.00, of which,P6,853,250 is earmarked for Personal Services (PS), P935,000.00 for Maintenance and Other Operating Expenditures (MOOE) and P200,000.00 for Capital Outlays.

The Provincial Planning and Development Office has a total proposed budgetary appropriations of P8,446,933.00, P7,019,932.00 for PS, P1,222,001.00 for MOOE and P205,000.00 for Capital Outlay.

Likewise, the SP has likewise completed scrutiny of the P6, 912,477.00 total budgetary appropriations of the Human Resource Management Office, P6, 265,392 for PS, P547,105 for MOOE and P100, 000 for Capital Outlay.

Budget hearings resumes on Monday. It is expected to run through up to the middle of next month.

The briefing and hearings, though presided over by the Honorable Selwyn C. Ibarreta of the Committee on Appropriations, etc., with Hon. Rodson F. Mayor and Hon. Phoebe Clarice L. Cabagnot as members, were also attended by no less than Vice Gov. Gabrielle V. Calizo-Quimpo and many other SP members.

Gov. Carlito S. Marquez has proposed a P976,436,012 2011 Annual Budgets, P587,989,907 under the General Fund and P388,446,105 under the EEDD.
