Kalibo, Aklan- The Aklan Sangguniang Panlalawigan has scheduled a series of hearings to review the proposed 2011 Annual General Fund and Economic Enterprise Development Budgets submitted by Governor Carlito S. Marquez on the statutory deadline on October 16, this year.
As agreed by the SP in plenary, the Provincial Local Finance Committee (PLFC) was directed by the august body to brief its members on the salient features of the proposed budgets on Thursday, November 11, at the Aklan SP Session Hall.
Thereafter, the SP has scheduled almost daily budget hearings to last up to the first week of December with the various departments of the provincial government taking turns in defending their respective budget proposal.
Marquez has proposed annual budgets for 2011 carrying total appropriations of P976,436,012, P26.5 Million more than the 2010 budget.
Of the total 2011 proposed budgetary appropriations, some P588 Million is earmarked under the General Fund and some P388.5 Million is earmarked for the EEDD.
The provincial governor has coined an overriding theme for the 2011 Annual Budgets, “Finding the key to fit the lock: Assess…Empower…Implement…Sustain for a progressive Aklanon Community”.
Though the budget hearings will be spearheaded by the SP Committee on Finance, Appropriations, Budget and Ways and Means chaired by SP Member Selwyn C. Ibarreta with SP Members Rodson F. Mayor and Phoebe Clarice L. Cabagnot as committee members, the budget hearings are expected to be participated by all the members of the chamber to include Vice Governor Gabrielle V. Calizo-Quimpo, the regular Presiding Officer of the provincial legislative body.
