ConFab of WV Sanggunian Secretaries in Boracay Successful

Kalibo, Aklan- Organizers of last weekend’s Regional Assembly of the Regional League of Secretaries to the Sanggunian-VI, Inc. (RELEASES) at the Boracay Holiday Resort at Aklan’s paradise island has rated the event to be fairly successful.
The assembly was able to gather the majority of the secretaries to the Sanggunian of the 117 towns, 16 cities and 6 provinces all over Western Visayas. Many of the secretaries had also caused the participation of their staff in their respective secretariat.
Featured speakers during the 3-day assembly from Oct.28-30 were the youthful new members of the Aklan Sangguniang Panlalawigan, the Hon. Victor Manuel M. Garcia of the Western District and the Hon. Jonna Morales-Torres, President of the Philippine Councilor’s League, Aklan Chapter.
Torres was the Keynote Speaker during the Opening Ceremonies in the morning of October 28 while Garcia was the inducting officer during the oath-taking ceremony of the new set of officers of the Aklan League of Secretaries to the Sanggunian (AKLESSA) now headed by Ibajay SB Secretary Ma. Mujane Begonia C. Miroy.
Experts from the Aklan Provincial Office of the Department of Interior and Local Government took turns in delivering relevant lectures to the delegates during the 3-day convention.
Ms. Maricel M. Bechayda, Municipal Local Government Operations Officer of Kalibo lectured on the Executive-Legislative Agenda preparation and the Role of the DILG in partnership with the Local Government Units in Local Legislation.
Mr. Ronald T. Rogan, Local Government Operations Officer II of the DILG Aklan Provincial Office lectured on the Electronic Local Governance Performance Management System, (ELGPMS).
The delegates were feted to a Boracay Island tour on the last day of the assembly overland and by boat.
The regional assembly was in preparation for the Regional Convention of the RELEASES in February 2011 in San Jose, Antique and the National Convention of the Philippine League of Secretaries to the Sanggunian (PLEASES) in June next year in Iloilo City.
Meanwhile, the present leadership of the RELEASES under President Josel Faisan of Negros Occidental and the membership of the AKLESSA are poised to endorse the candidacy of Aklan SP Secretary to the Sanggunian Odon S. Bandiola as the next president of the RELEASES during the regional convention in San Jose, Antique next February.
Faisan will be vying for the presidency of the PLEASES next June during the national convention in Iloilo City.
