Kalibo, Aklan- For bagging the EXCEL Award given by the Department of Interior and Local Government Region VI from 2007 to 2009 and the Seal of Good Housekeeping National Award in 2010, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Aklan has commended the municipal of Balete for exemplary performance in local governance.
In Resolution No.2010-118 passed during the 16th Regular Session, the SP praised LGU Balete for bringing pride and honor to the Province of Aklan and for setting a sterling example of good local governance for 4th to 6th class municipalities in the entire country.
Balete led all 4th to 6th class towns in Region VI in the areas of administrative governance, economic development, local legislation, environmental protection and fiscal management.
In bagging the national Seal of Good Housekeeping Award this year, Balete excelled in the areas of planning, budgeting, revenue mobilization, financial management, budget execution, procurement and resource mobilization.
In noting said resolution, DILG Aklan Provincial Director Jenny D. Destua expressed appreciation over the resolution of commendation. He said SP action will surely elevate the level of awareness as well as the competitiveness of all the municipalities in Aklan.
Destua also commended the performance of the Province of Aklan on the same EXCEL program for having been awardees in the areas of Administrative Governance, Economic Development and Environmental Protection, and for bring a national contender for the Award on Seal of Good Housekeeping.
Balete, the SP resolution noted, is the only town in Aklan with an Executive-Legislative Agenda (ELA) since 2004 and a Comprehensive Development Plan for six years.
